Description

Teacher Tube is an online community for sharing instructional videos that are educationally focused, and are a safe venue for teachers, schools, and home learners.  It is a site to provide anytime,anywhere professional development with teachers teaching teachers.  As well, it is a site where teachers can post videos designed for students to view in order to learn a concept or skill.  Teacher Tube provides instructional tools and videos for all grade levels and all subjects.

 

Reasons for Use

With TeacherTube, members can:

 

  • Upload, tag and share videos worldwide.
  • Upload Support files to attach your educational activities, assessments, lesson plans, notes, and other file formats to your video.
  • Browse hundreds of videos uploaded by community members.
  • Find, join and create video groups to connect with people who have similar interests.
  • Customize the experience by subscribing to member videos, saving favorites, and creating playlists.
  • Integrate TeacherTube videos on websites using video embeds or API's,
  • Make videos public or private-users can elect to broadcast their videos publicly or share them privately with those they invite.

 

Members are encouraged to not only upload educationally relevant videos, but also to make constructive comments and use the rating system to show appreciation for videos of value to one as an educator or learner.  Users also have the ability to preserve the integrity of the site by flagging inappropriate videos.

 

Tutorials and Resources 

You can find a tutorial for just about anything.  All you need to do is to type in the seach box the subject and then the word tutorial (ex:wiki tutorial) and hit search.  There will be a few sites to choose from. (For many of the videos you need to go to the right side, click on the graphic button next to the volume graphic to enlarge video/screen.  Press escape button to go back to small screen)

 

 

  • This tutorial will show you how to upload one of your own videos to the TeacherTube website.

Subject and Skill Specific Educational Videos 

When you go to TeacherTube, type in the search box the skill, subject, grade level, or a combination of these and hit search.  Many videos will be listed.  You will need to scroll down and choose one to view.  Remember, it is important to view all videos even though TeacherTube has a system for checking the appropriateness of videos.  Some videos are definately better than others. 

 

TeacherTube Channels show some actual tv programs about a subject as well as videos.

Where to Find the Program

The service is free to everyone by going to www.TeacherTube.comYou can choose to sign up so you have the availability to rate videos, add your own video etc. or you can use their videos without signing up. 

 

The only drawback of this site is that everytime you pull up a video, there is an advertisement on it.  However, you can click the ad off.
